Over the last 15 years, I have spent a lot of time exploring, experimenting, and drinking cocktails. I have also developed quite a collection of home bar skills and know-how that I’d like to share with you. Nine years with a small craft distillery taught me how to taste spirits, enjoy the flavors they have to offer, and not hide them in an overly sweet cocktail.
Cocktails, if done correctly, are built so all the flavors add something to mix or bring something to the table. Too often we have a beautiful cocktail out at a bar, but have no idea how to make those cocktails at home. If we snap a shot of the cocktail menu in hopes of recreating that drink, very often we think what the heck is madeira or how do I know what bitters to use?
Over the course of a two hour class, you will learn the basics on setting up your home bar, how to use bitters and fresh, local ingredients, and how to make classic cocktails. Small group classes are generally limited to 6 people. Please contact me to discuss larger groups or events.
The current class offering is Home Bar Basics and Classic Cocktails. It is $25 per person and I’ll come teach at your home, bar, or restaurant. Please contact me to schedule your event and ask any questions you have.
Some recent feedback from students:
“We can’t wait for the next one!”
“Being a beer drinker primarily, I never appreciated the art that goes into mixing a cocktail. I truly learned a lot and I’m grateful for it.”
